We're looking for someone to provide a professional, approachable and efficient financial service that is virtually error-free, in order to provide vital accounting support to the firm as a whole and externally to our clients.  You'll be joining a patent and trade mark attorney firm that works to protect some of the world's leading brands and newest innovations.

Having excellent numeracy skills is essential, and you'll also need to be the kind of person who is well organised and has good attention to detail.  Training will be provided.

What you'll be doing

Your tasks will typically include:

  • Processing, creating and filing incoming paperwork relating to financial transactions;
  • Entering transactions in the firm's computer system;
  • Arranging payments and entering cash received;
  • Reimbursement of expense claims, including maintenance of petty cash book;
  • Answering queries from clients, suppliers and colleagues;
  • Generating and filing end of period reports as required and preparing documents for the annual inspection by the firm's accountants as requested by colleagues;
  • Visit to bank branch to collect cash or documents, or to pay in cheques;
  • Other Accounts Department duties that may arise from time to time;
  • Supporting the introduction of new, and the development of existing, systems and processes arising from technological, legal and commercial changes.  Developing the skills and knowledge to remain up to date with such internal and external changes so as to improve your own and the firm's productivity and effectiveness.

You'll be based in our Bath office, in the city centre.

Who we're looking for

A person with a concern for order, accuracy and quality, who is used to working alongside others and who understands the importance of providing exemplary financial service.

As well as being someone who thrives as part of a team, you'll be resourceful enough to work independently when needed.  Good IT skills and knowledge and understanding of accountancy software are preferable but is not essential.

In terms of academic background, we're looking for:

  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including English and Maths;
  • Further qualifications demonstrating an aptitude for accountancy are preferable but are not essential;
  • Accounting or administration experience, ideally from working in a similar role.
