Tom entered the profession in 2006 and joined Abel & Imray in 2015. He is based in the Bath Office. During his time at the University of Bristol he worked at Airbus in Filton in Airbus’ Flight Physics Dept and also worked on a research project involving computational fluid dynamics in relation to morphing wing aircraft technology.
Tom has experience working for clients both in the aerospace sector and in the automotive industry. He has taken responsibility for a large international patent portfolio of a major turbocharger manufacturer, which has involved substantial drafting and prosecution work, with an international emphasis, and working closely with senior management and engineers to provide clear and practical advice. Tom handles subject matter in various technologies, but has specific areas of experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in the oil and gas industries, including subsea control valve technology, aerospace propulsion, industrial chains, gearboxes and couplings, non-destructive testing, textile manufacturing and safety equipment.
Tom frequently advises on issues of patent infringement and validity and has experience of direct advocacy work at both the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office.
