Tom has a strong mathematical and computing background and has considerable experience obtaining patents in all areas relating to software and electronics, including telecommunications, networking, security, video processing, and machine learning. He frequently advises on the patentability of software-related inventions, and other areas of “excluded subject matter” where obtaining patent protection can be difficult.

Tom also has a strong designs practice, having obtained registered designs all around the world, and has considerable experience obtaining UK, EU and International (Hague) registered designs.

Finally, Tom has a particular interest in contentious matters, particularly UK patent and design litigation, and has qualified as a Patent Attorney Litigator with Higher Court rights.
