If you are thinking of filing a new EUTM application this year and wish to register the mark in the UK, it would be advisable to file the new EUTM application as soon as possible, and realistically no later than the 31st July 2020, to give it the best chance of achieving registration by the end of December 2020.
WHY ACT NOW?
EUTMs registered before the end of 2020 will give rise automatically to new UK registrations for the same mark. For EUTM applications which are still pending at the end of 2020, it will be necessary to file a separate UK application, although the UK application will bear the same effective filing date as the EUTM application.
