The Unified Patent Court has announced that it will now open on 1 June 2023 rather than 1 April 2023 as previously stated.
That means that the sunrise period during which opt outs from the Court’s jurisdiction may be filed and which was expected to start on 1 January 2023 will now begin on 1 March 2023. We suspect that the delay is in response to complains that the Court’s SmartCard authentication system was not ready. Further delays are not currently expected, but as always we will keep you informed.
