Katy joined Abel + Imray in 2018 and is based in the Bath office. She works with clients across a range of chemical applications including catalysis, polymers, oil refinery processing, contact lens, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. She has gained experience in the cosmetic sector by assisting the in-house IP department of a global cosmetic company. Katy has created and facilitated workshops and IP training sessions including for Cardiff University and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Katy carried out her PhD studies at the University of Bristol through the Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training. During this time, she developed transition metal catalysts used to upgrade bioethanol to biobutanol, providing a sustainable route to advanced biofuel production. Over the course of her PhD research, Katy gained a broad experience of synthetic chemistry, specialising in the areas of homogeneous catalysis and organometallic chemistry. Katy is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a committee member of the Royal Society of Chemistry Law Group.
