This year, you can once again use the SME voucher to recover part of the costs of your patent, trade mark or design application, if your organisation is established in the European Union or Ukraine.
The SME Fund, an initiative of the European Commission, has an IP voucher available. This allows you to recover up to 75% of the costs of a trade mark, patent or design application (with a maximum of €1,000). The SME Fund offers financial support to EU based small and medium sized enterprises.
Naturally, there are eligibility requirements for this subsidy. Your organisation must be established in the European Union or Ukraine, have no more than 250 employees, and have an annual turnover of no more than €50 million. The full terms and conditions can be found here: SME definition. The voucher can only be used for new applications and is available from February 2 to December 4, 2026. Please note: the subsidy application is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you wait too long, there is a good chance the subsidy fund will be depleted.
