Academic Qualifications: DPhil Molecular Cell Biology in Health and Disease, University of Oxford BSc Biochemistry, University of Exeter
Isabel joined Abel + Imray in the ChemBio group in February 2026, based in the London Office. Prior to this, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, where she also completed her DPhil. Her research focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating mitosis, with particular emphasis on the role of protein phosphatases in chromosome alignment and timely exit from mitotic. She combined CRISPR-based genome editing, biochemical methods, and high-resolution microscopy to investigate how these processes are coordinated at the molecular level.
Isabel has a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Exeter. During her undergraduate studies, she carried out an internship at the University of Cambridge in an immunology research lab investigating B cell development and diversification of antibody genes. She also gained experience in a cancer immunology lab at Exeter, contributing to research on the molecular pathways that maintain DNA integrity.
